I saw a Victoria yacht for the first time today at our club and was
surprised that there was no jib luff rope (wire/cord whatever) and the
luff wasn't even straight so excess material doubled back into a rough
curve and flapped around in the wind. I know the victoria is a well
regarded boat and can't see how a yacht with a jib like this can be
effective to windward so two questions:
is there something wrong with the construction of this particular jib
is there an accepted fix to improve windward performance.
