The Brian Taylor plans from Bob Holman were of an early mark Spit 69 inch which won the Nats, change from a MkI to a MkV would be an easy move, Bob also blew them up to 83 inch. Here is a link to a good guy who makes glass parts for the 83 inch model and he also has links to Bob Holmans for the plans.

TAM, the early Spits really are overlooked when it comes to plans and kits. The Brian Taylor 69 inch MkI-II plans are a good starting point as stated above although they are a bit shy of 1/6 scale. I have one each of Vic Catalasan's fiberglass fuselages, a MkVIII/IX fuse and also his MkI-V fuselage. His glass work is well done and they are an excellent starting point for a top notch Spitfire project. You may want to drop Vic a note as I heard rumor he was reworking the molds for the MkI-V to incorporate the cowl into the fuselage as a one piece unit just like the later Mk fuselage he offers. I think DB Sport and Scale in the UK also has a 1/5 or so early Mark Spitfire kit and possibly also Unitracts International. You'll have to search the internet for more info on those as I don't have any details. Good luck, Chad Veich.

Paul, thanks for adding the link
Chad, thanks for clarifying
Tam, let me know if I can be of help.
Regarding the Spitfire fuses, I am planning on redoing the fuse so that it accepts either a MK1-5 cowl or the MK8-9. I have a fuse layed up and redoing it, but what do you guys think of my idea?
By the way I am almost done with the P38 molds - just doing the turbo chargers now.
Finally I can build another warbird.... 1.5 years on the P38 is grueling.

Good to see you here Vic, we hope that we can get this forum moving along here as word gets around.
Personally I think it would be great to have an early mark Spit fuse. It is still my favourite plane and I have a Clarke 1/4 scale. Your size is much more manageable, there are a lot out there but most manufacturers do not build an early mark as the cowl is short and the engine has to move further back usually meaning a lot of weight has to be added to get balance. If you make it possible to use either cowl and stay scale it will be great, I would surely be interested as my mkix craving is already satisfied.
The Battle of Britain was my first area of interest in warbirds but I have never actually built an early spit so I need to do one, maybe Paddy Finucanes mount or Bob Stanford Tucks.
Now you have me thinking again.
Good luck

Hi Todd, thanks for the remarks. All credits goes to Brian Taylor I just built and molded to help all speed up the process of building.

yes, you are correct, the fuse helps speed up the process! and when I get my hands on another to replace the one I lost, it should even go faster!:p

Todd, I admire anyone willing to tackle a spitfire wing! especially one of first try on a built up wing. Building a second one of the same model is always a piece of cake.
Paul thanks for the welcome!
