I am working on a 05 pusher of a more or less scale JAS39 Gripen. I am debating whether or not to fix canard and use elevons only or use elevator as part of the canard or make the canard a full flying version as in the real plane. Any thoughts on this?

Against a widely spread reservation, canards are possible and operate very nicely. Please have a look at ACT Europe (http://www.acteurope.de/) or Foxbat tuning (http://www.acteurope.de/html/hauptteil_foxtuningenglisch.html) and look for their Foxbat. Should be available in the US through Hobbico as well. You have to watch your servo travel und eleavtor through a little and you have to get familiar with the different, non-panic stall behaviour. CG is different to regular delta's as well. Not much to consider though.

A major problem will be bending of the axle on a full-flying canard, since there won't be a stablizier ahead of the surface to take the ground impact on "arrival".
Land safely and smoothly, the way I do all the time, and of course this won't be a problem. :D
