I get my newsfeed from NTL here in the UK. On this group I frequently
have posts missing and have to try and piece together conversations
from the quotes :-(.

I read another newsgroup rec.aquaria.marine.reefs and never have any
posts missing from that one.

bloody mumble mutter.

You could try going through www.google.co.uk then 'groups' to see if they are
collated any better

Had a look through Google as you suggested and found that it had the
posts I was missing. For example a recent conversation between Beav
and Ian titled "How tight should a fly wheel be" I'm missing the
second and third posts from my newsfeed.

Richard,

What newserver are you getting your feed from? the most reliable one that
NTL have at the moment is:

text.news.ntlworld.com

It's what gives me my feed, last year they introduced this server with no
binaries groups on it and now have a half decent news service. If you are
still pointing at news.ntlworld.com or news.cable.ntlworld.com then change
your settings in Forte.

Richard, do you use NTL's TEXT based news server? (text.news.ntlworld). If
not, I'd give it a go if I were you. I used to use the "normal" NTL news
server, but as you've found out, it's crapola with a big crapola. Their text
only server is FAR better, but there's a lot of freebie news servers you can
log onto and not lose any parts of a thread.

Try text.news first though, coz it's blisteringly quick with it's updating
(generally)

You certainly dare say it Carl, but dare I say someone might feel like
giving you a good slapping?

I don't see how posting STYLE makes a difference to how many messages are
either carried or downloaded.

Note to Richard....

A quickie.. have you set your internal "tools" options to download enough
messages to grab everything and have you set them to grab JUST the latest
messages while dropping off old ones too quickly?

(This from a complete arse when it comes to 'puters)

Consider me slapped matey :-) It won't make a difference, but the 2nd, 3rd,
4th messages will be easy to read even with the 1st one missing... 'cause
it'll be nicely quoted :-)

It wouldn't be me doing the slapping, coz I don't give a rats:-)
