Question for those who can help, Had a great afternoon flying yesterday, except for some rather jealous wedge tailed eagles. These things where just as big as my 2.5m floater.
Has anyone had any luck to keep them from attacking their plane. Luckily i was able to avoid them with some loops and dives that tested my floater. I tell you, having those critters zeroing in with tallens out and dropping in with wings folded is a rather adrenaline pumping experience.

I was thinking of large eyes on the upper wing, looking backwards at them.

Any thoughts?

They usually don't attack models unless the models are flying in their nesting territory. You may have to wait until the nesting season is over before you can fly there without them attacking.

I have thermaled with hawks before and had no trouble at and then again I have flown my old zagi around and was doing aerobatics when they came and started chasing it but sinse it was nowhere near its nest I think it was just having a little fun... Most the time when I just put my floaters up there they just ignore and thermal with it... Good luck,

I can remember when your dad was flying with some in a thermal, and they repeatidly attacked him.

I beg to differ on that nesting territory stuff. A few years ago, thermalling in NSW Australia my friend was at spec status in a flat area. This black dot appeared out of, what looked like space.
After the plane and bird meet, my friend way able to decend the model with control to a rather forced landing.
We were in the middle of know where, a few trees some miles off, but it was flat, dry country.

I had a few friends tell me what i should do with my problem, i could only laugh. the statement was 'get a faster plane'.
If only i had my boomerang built (my avatar) i would ahve been able to run rings around the wedge tail.
Heres hoping anyway.

portfoxdesign-
That is a neat story but my guess (which can DEFINATLY be wrong) is that they were just playing with your friends plane like they did my zagi but a lot of times it is when you accidently go over there nesting grounds like ollie said... There are always exceptions to the rule...

Superman, that is true - still though made a mess of his canopy and servo bays.
I thinks i will have to just play nice, or i should say, i hope they play nice. Oh and get a faster plane to ensure that they dont actually get it. Here's hoping anyway, i'll find out this weekend if the wind is blowing the right way.
