Pondside Dick told me about this forum so I thought I'd jump with a contribution (I had already put it up on Ezone last summer).
This is my Aqua Sport built from MAN plans. The wing has been lengthened by one bay on each side and ailerons added.
The fuse was an experiment with blue fan fold foam covered with 1/32 balsa sheeting. The whole plane is covered with Oracover lite. Power is a Mag Mayhem with a 3.5 Great Planes gearbox on ten cells with a 12x8 prop.
I flew it all during last winter off the snow and finally had a chance to get off the water this summer. This is a great design that handles wind and waves very well. The ailerons are a great mod as I've seen others with only rudder that have a bit of a problem when breaking free from the water. It will loop with no effort and rolls (albiet a bit barrel like) can be done. Most of the time its just fun stooging around and doing touch and goes.

Haven't quite figured out how to attach multiple pics to apost so here's another pic of the Aqua Sport doing a flotation test in the pool.
BTW, the floats were really easy to build. Only three formers (bulkheads), flat bottoms with a step and a neat attachment system using the hardware for wheel spats on the top. The landing gear wire goes veritcally into the floats and the angle of attack is adjustable.

Hey dottney,
I like you Aqua Sport. I still have the magazine with the article in it from 1984. I really like it. Never did order the plans. Maybe one day I'll do a 24.5" span version
So many planes....

Oh yea we lost power. Penfield is a suburb of Rochester, NY; western upstate NY by Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes. NYC is very far away, thank God. My daughter is down on Long Island and said things were pretty screwy there. We got power back about 12:15 AM this morning.
We've had a couple of major ice storms that knocked power out for days at a time so this was really nothing too tough. Heck its summer so we weren't faced with trying to stay warm like we are with the ice storms. I sat out with some neighbors in the front yard tipping a brew and chuckling about the situation.
I think its all those electric flyers charging their batteries that did it.
Charging up batteries this morning to go flying this afternoon-gotta get as much in as possible before school reopens and I have to go back work (retiring soon!!)

Wow - that Aqua Sport sure takes me back!
I enlarged Mitch Poling's plans, used a 52 inch ARF wing I had, flew the ASport for several years in the contests here. That must have been15 years ago...
