I have big dreams. This is one of them. Aint she purdy?
It is possible, sure its gonna have to be Lithium and brushless, but it is possible.

Shure. My 1/4-scale Super Cub on floats. That is my big dream. ;) But I think that I will start with a parkflyer...

This WAS my dream, until I tried to get the little sucker down on the pool. At 15" span, it was little tricky...or should I say ugly! It took off fine, but I hit everything in the back yard except the pool trying to land it.

Nice plane Jason! I find that I need 3 to 4 times the room to land than to take off my WaterPlanes. My Wingo takes off in about 60 to 70 feet but I need about 300 feet to set up final, land and stop!! Landing in a pool you gotta hit the #3 wire first time or run out of space and smack the wall. Hope the plane is OK.
Willshep, thanks for the Seamaster link!! That was always one of my favorite concept planes, nice to find out what happened to it.

If you'd like some reference material/ideas, take a look at

for three views, color schemes, etc., for several vintage seaplanes.

Perry OMG
well then I just love to see my dreams become reality! And i didnt lift a finger! yay!
I will live vicariously through Daves experience..
It looks amazingly well thought out. I hope it tears off that water after the, glup, take-off run.
That mars is also amazing craftsmanship!!! big dreams indeed!
Please keep us informed. I vote those threads get moved to their rightful homes in this fourm!

Willshep,
Glad you enjoyed the threads. Dave lives just a few miles from me. He asked if I wanted to maiden her (P6M). Hmmm...........I dunno. You ought to see Daves plane in person or at least the pieces like I did a month ago at the RAMS Field 21st Electric Fly In here in Sumner Washington.
Very nice workmanship indeed! Let me see if I can find the pics.

Yeah I saw those "pieces" pics. Looks great.
Yeah maidening that p6m off the bungie for the first time is going to be hair raising no doubt. I dont think i could stomach flying someone elses for the first run -- after all that incredible work.
It would be interesting to do some high-speed taxi tests.. see if it gets up on step, and if it does, you could pull a spruce goose maneuver.. you know just a bit of airtime to feel out the pitch/roll stability, but im sure it will be fine. The only issues will be the sweep and anhedral on the wing forcing it to enjoy the higher speed ranges. gulp.

Pun intended. There will be a few planes before, but this is where I'm headed. Will be an electric Foamie, size/ws TBD. Already have plans ready to scale.

wilshep, you and David Plummer here on the zone have the same dream...;) And that is not a bad thing, since this seaplane is about the coolest ever.
Check out his Seamaster thread over in the electric jets forum:

And I borrowed one of his pics to tantilize you:

OUCH!
I built and flew a Canadair CL-215 for a loooong time; finally stuffed it into the garbage can...too old, too risky if something let go in the air.
Now, there is an electric replacement in the works - about 80 inch wing (earlier one was a 78 inch span).

I have actually flown one of these. I would love to get my hands on a rc one.
Well actually my father in law is a pilot. He took me up in one and then told me to take the controls. So I did. Does that qualify as flying one?

There was a Pilot kit of the Lake Bucaneer that was intended for a glow .19-25. The kit is heavy- needs to be lightened for glow and certainly electric. I've got one lying around somewhere...

If I remember right, Rich Flichcraft of the East Coast (Rhode Island?) built and flew a Buccaneer...electric.
HEAVY.
