I mentioned in previous posts elsewhere on the forum about a power supply I constructed based on an ATX power supply.

I've attached the schematic..

Some notes:

The psu is based on a pwm built around the TL494. If you attempt to build/modify an existing psu make sure it has the ic in it.......
The wound components were removed form the donor psu along with the switching transistors.
Dont use the existing diodes!! They are NOT man enough for the job.
Although not shown on the diagram, I included an led on board the pcb that I made to provide some load(along with the fan) to ensure correct operation of the pwm at min load....

I've since conducted endurance testing using a Super Nova charger connected to 16 CP2400's charging at 5 amps.........Current draw was 7.4 Amps........

I've since used it for powering my Minicraft Saw bench, too.

In use the charger was found to be very stable, and responded to load changes without problem.......loop regulation good.
No unnecessary amount of heat is generated

Hopefully if you build one it should work 1st time........any probs, I may be able to help.

Disclaimer: I cant be held responsible for any injury loss sustained to any object or person(s) resulting from building this unit. It contains mains voltage which is dangerous. If you have any doubts DO NOT BUILD IT........
