Anyone own one of these?. If so which package did you go for and how
much did it cost?
Anything to be aware of before buying?.
I think i will go for the generation lite product as i suspect that is the
cheapest although the site doesnt say
how much. It also seems to be only available from one place. Is this where
you bought yours:?

I bought Realflight Deluxe a few years ago. I don't think you can get that
now, as it's superceeded by Realflight G2. I wasn't planing on upgrading as
I found RFD did everything I needed of it. Unfortunately I can't get it
working under Windows XP now, it just freezes up on the menu screen. (Even
though the website says it's compatible.) I've not heard of any such
problems with G2 though.
You should be able to buy it from any rc model shop. For example, Midland
Helicopters list the G2 Lite for £126 and the full version for £180.

It is compatible. I've still got RFD version 1 running on my XP machine.
After it was patched by Knife-edge, it behaved a lot more betterer than
before, but I've also got G2 and both work on XP machines.

And the full version is worth the extra money too.

I know it's supposed to be compatible. It just don't like my system for some
reason. I've only just installed XP (oem copy from scratch) and installed
all latest hardware drivers. I'm sure I can fix the problem if I tinker with
driver revisions, etc. but I just can't be bothered.

I'm still using the nVidia Detonator 3 drivers.

I'll check them out. I'm using the OEM card drivers since I need the TV-out
functionality (to play games on my widescreen tv!), but at least with XP
it's made easier to chop and change drivers.

Something I've not tried that (using the wode screen as a monitor). Mind
you, it's not surprising considering my level of "expertise" when it comes
to computers:-)
I've even got a pair of them there 3D specs and I've got NO idea how to make
'em work.
Maybe Mr Farrington can do the honours for me?????

I had an Asus TNT2 graphics card efore my current one that supported 3D
glasses via an extra jack plug. (Rather than the generic add-on glasses that
work with all cards these days.) Some programs had "issues" and RFD was one
of them, but it was inconsistent and generally down to the Asus driver
version I was using. But when it worked, I found RFD to be one of the best
applications to use them on. Depth perception was improved no-end and it
truly did feel like a day at the field.
My current card is a dirt cheap GeForce4 MX440 64Mb, a year or so old now,
and has a TV-out socket. So I can run windowed applications over the monitor
and tv at the same time. Quite good with Microsoft Flightsim 2002, having
the monitor on the floor below the tv with the dash on it and the widescreen
showing the cockpit window view. Dead slow though, not as good as having two
separate gfx cards, as the one just gets overloaded. Main problem with
running the PC on a regular tv (i.e. not HD-TV) is that you're limited to
800x600 resolution, and it's blurry at that. Doesn't matter for games, but
you wouldn't want to use it for anything text intensive.

I've got a GF4 Ti4600 and it's "pretty good", but I like my games to have
good resolution which is one of the reasons I've never bothered trying the
TV out thing. The glasses you mention are the ones I've got (I got them with
the first GeForce 256 I bought) and I had issues with them and RFD too (FAR
to steppy) so I stopped using 'em, and when I got the new card, I forgot I
had them sitting on the drawer:-) I'd love to see how they (if they) work
with the Ti and RealFlight though.
