Hi,

I finally got the 401 combo for my Shuttle ZXX but after reading the
manual I have some questions about mounting the gyro and servo. The
flat area behind the fuel tank is where the Shuttle manual tells you to
mount the gyro but I have some concerns about mounting it there. I
would think you would have trouble seeing the LED lights on the sensor
and making any adjustments with a small screwdriver would be difficult.
Also it wouldn't be the recommended 10 cm away from the engine. I can't

seem to find a better location so I was wondering if this is where it
should be mounted on a Shuttle? Can I put the 9253 servo up front where

the existing T/R servo is? It appears there may be a clearance problem
with the middle aileron servo because of the longer servo arm that is
required. I read somewhere that you should use a servo wheel which I
think will cause a clearance problem. I'm hoping it can be mounted here

because I'm trying to avoid the added cost of mounting it on the
tailboom.

This will probably be a few of many questions to follow so thanks in
advance for any help and guidance.

Dave M

P.S. I posted this question last night but when I checked tonight for
responses I got an error message saying the message had expired. This
has happened before after only 1 day,any ideas.

Hi Dave,

Many people at our fields mounted the gyro in front of the servos. What I
did was cut out a square piece of plastic from a CD case and attached it to
the front of the servo tray. It works great.

As far as the clearence issue is concerned you have two options. You either
have to put plastic under the middle servo so it is higher than the others
or you can buy a new tray. The new tray has the middle servo higher than the
others already. If you buy a new tray please make sure it fits the older
Shuttle first before you buy.

Hope this helps,
Nice Fellow
