I know this has been posted before, but lemme just say it again out of pure
excitement:

Today while practicing at the track someone pointed out that I still had the
carb restrictor in my engine. I removed it, richened it up a whole bunch,
and all I can say is WOW. All this time I was wondering why everyone else
had mad power and acceleration out of the corners, and a ballistic top
end.... now I know why.... and I now have it too :)

If you do this, dont forget to richen it up...especially the high speed jet.

So... as you said, you had been driving it "all this time" and yet... someone
ELSE had to point out to you that you were running a carb restrictor?
Sheesh... you never knew it?
Did you even bother to investigate, when you could clearly see that your car
wasn't performing as well as the other cars?
Do you need someone to tell you to wipe your face... when you're drooling down
your chin?
Some people amaze me.

Chill! It's quite possible use a piece of equipment for years before
noticing a simple part of it. Especially a part that you normally wouldn't
think had options.

Ahem... I am quite chilled, thank you.

I guess, if you're living in a coma.
I never would have thought so, until I read the original post.
But sure, anything's possible.
Some folks should stick to electrics.

Anyway... you don't need to get your *panties* in a bunch either. I was just
having a little fun with the guy.
The "drool" comment was maybe a little out-of-line, but I was just givin' him a
little ribbing for being so blind to such an obvious thing.

>Especially a part that you normally wouldn't

What's the FIRST place to look, when a nitro engine is running like crap?
The Carb.
Have you ever even seen one of those carb restrictors? It sits in the intake of
the carb, and is bigger than life... clear to even the most casual observer.
I'm also sure that is mentioned somewhere in the manual...(that goes un-read
most of the time.)
If the guy is so lame, that he needed someone ELSE to bring that carb
restrictor to his attention, he deserves a little fun poked at him.
I'm sure he can take it.

We'll see if he took it as fun if he bothers to reply. You probably drove
him off. Shame.

I kinda doubt that... Tom (mykrowyre) has been around here a long time, and
will not have any problem with a little joke... even if it IS at his expense.
Besides, who died, and made you the NG police? Burntkat?

Hmmm... rather NOT, but thanks for the offer.

Shoulda stuck with electric... clearly, nitro is way over your head.

Well, genius... I looked, and you are right... the manual calls it a
"Carburator Insert". AND after looking at the manual... I was shocked to see
where that "Insert" takes up over half of the carb intake, it is white plastic,
GLARINGLY obvious... and for someone NOT to see it in there... still amazes me.

If anyone is interested, go to:

http://rc10.com/shusting/CatalogHub/engine/AE15_engman.pdf

(Page 1, step 2, "how to set the carburator, and start the engine")

The photos there (Ahem, in the manual)
show the "Carb Insert".
When I saw the photos, I had to laugh. As I said... GLARINGLY obvious, even to
the casual observer.

Whoa, lighten-up, tough guy.
Guess I was wrong... you can't take a joke.

Nah I can take a joke, but calling someone stupid isnt a joke it's an
insult. I never said I didnt SEE it. I said, that I didnt know that it was
a) removable and b) designed to restrict airflow.

On the plus side, it improves fuel economy for those 20 min to 1 hour races.

I hear they are great for hooking up on those dusty offroad tracks too.

I'll have to try it. I just installed a Picco .12 and haven't seen it on my
local track yet. I was already the fastest truck on the track with my old
TRX .15!
