yeah cool lift kit....howed u do that...can u buy one like that from the market.....ok so my truck does 40 plus mph.....as what it says on the box....im very happy....just got it runnin today...my break pads werr3e wore out and my front bulkhead was cracked and my engine brace was cracked and my spur gear was stripped...but all fixed now.....ttl ....p.s tight video red91sit2
bassplay
Jul 13, 2003, 10:19 PM
ok well actually.....i did it myself! (the lift) i just set down and thought about it (which is hard for me to do ;) ) and well all i had to do was drill 4 lil holes and its done.do you want me to show u in a full illustration with like pics and details? i can if you are really interested but ya,what i did was u know how the arm the shocks go on has 3 holes, they are just so you can adjust the ride high i guess.well i made another hole below the 3 holes but i drilled it so that i can still screw the screw in.pretty..ok REALLY simple.took about 10 minutes and now i got a new adjustment for climbing and stuff.i noticed that these buggies ride pretty stinking low to the ground but once i made the lift it was a world higher.now i can go over stuff that i couldnt before,i like it a lot!one thing,i took it to my church and well there is a LOT of pavement out there so i was racing a friend of mine and in a turn i cut it sharp and hit reverse and it got top heavy and flipped.i mean no damage or anything but you just cant do things you would wit a slammed buggy.allright, well i guess iv spoken enough.lol, ttyl guys!

sweet...what goes into making a rc car waterproof? how would you go about doin this?
red91sit2
Jul 14, 2003, 03:33 PM
i put ballons around the reciever and esc and put crisco in the end so water couldn't get in and i zip tied the ballon tight against the wires i also used hot melt glue all over on the esc and reciever and battery so no water could get in them. you gotta go fast though or else water will short the motor and you'[ll have to wait for it to dry out if it's at full power though it'll usually just evaporate.
t-maxx kid
Jul 14, 2003, 07:56 PM
do u need ballons over the servos
red91sit2
Jul 14, 2003, 08:48 PM
i don't have any over my servo but it's proboly a good idea You should probobly put grease or crisco on the joints of it.. Also if you do run your tmaxx in the water make sure you don't get water in the engine. They don't take in water as good as electrics.
bassplay
Jul 15, 2003, 03:45 AM
oh i see.thats pretty kool.i dont remember what kind of rc car u got......what u got again?is it a car or buggy?
red91sit2
Jul 15, 2003, 11:49 AM
It's a very beat up Electric 4-Tec
t-maxx kid
Jul 15, 2003, 03:08 PM
wouldent it overheat when u put hot glue over the esc
red91sit2
Jul 15, 2003, 03:56 PM
i didn't put it over the heat sink i just put it around the bottom part of the heatsink so no water could get in. my esc never really gets that hot :S my motor does though it melted the chassis
t-maxx kid
Jul 15, 2003, 03:58 PM
y wouldent it be a good idea to race nitro in the water
red91sit2
Jul 15, 2003, 08:01 PM
cuz if u get too much water in the engine it'll either die hopefully or it'll bust the connecting rod since the water can't compress you should be ok as long as the water stays below the airfilter.
bassplay
Jul 15, 2003, 11:00 PM
hmm.....well u guys know much about slipper clutches?i haev a few questiuons.on ym buggy i got a slipper clutch and well i was studying it trying to figure out how i want to adjust it.i do a lot of climbing stuff like rocks and crap pushing the thing to its limits and well i went and tightened the slipper as tight as it would go.it seems to throw a lot of gravel and it looks pretty nasty :-D
but is it bad anyway for the buggie?Whats the disadvantages to this?
red91sit2
Jul 16, 2003, 12:06 PM
when u land a big jump and the tires aren't going the same speed as the ground it'll bust driver line bits and pieces.
bassplay
Jul 16, 2003, 02:29 PM
YIKES~~~~! so i shouldnt set it really tight.whats a good way to know how to set it ?
red91sit2
Jul 16, 2003, 02:43 PM
tight enough so it doesn't slip under regular use like acceleration. as long as it's not on as tight as it'll go it should be fine
bassplay
Jul 16, 2003, 04:02 PM
allright,i loosened it all the way and it wouldnt even move..just set there and wine.i was expiramenting.i tightened it and then set it out on some loose fine gravel and it kicked up the gravel but not too bad.should it throw gravel at all?and this gravel is REALLY fine.like little chunks....the size of peas.lol.
red91sit2
Jul 16, 2003, 04:55 PM
it should act just like normal on gravel and pavement but if u rev the engine and drop it on the pavement the motor shouldn't suddenly jerk slower. don't try that though lol just keep tightening it until it stops slipping.
t-maxx kid
Jul 16, 2003, 10:15 PM
how would u do that with nitro trucks cuz u cant here it slippin like on electric ones...on my electric evader st i was supposed to tightin it till it waz snug...am i always supposed tightin the slipper on the t-maxx all the way and back of 1/8 of a turn or can i adjust it diffrent..wat would it do if i do that...thanxz
t-maxx kid
Jul 16, 2003, 11:53 PM
yeah what kind of moter and esc should i get for my duratrax evader st....im starting to want to sup that up now for a change and start racing it.....also does the battary packs make a diffrence waht is the diffrnce in performence between single cell battary packs and the reagualr.....should i get matched cells if i do get a diffrent battary pack....thanks

Jul 25, 2003, 11:37 PM

bassplay
Aug 02, 2003, 12:02 PM
oh..well actually to tell u the truth i have no clue what rpm is! lol...from what it sounds liek they are a manufacturer of rc parts? ill do a search for them and see what i can find.my dad is a BIG tool freak and we have all the equiptment to do ANYTHING so im gonna take a lathe and make some custom parts for my buggy.....
bassplay
Aug 02, 2003, 12:05 PM
oh ya....im having a hard time finding the web site for RPM,what is it? and also...whats a good choice of parts to buy/make for a rc car that would work as an upgrade? i have a 12T trinity motor and a 8t esc and it still dont go maybe 6mph faster than it is stock! i was it to be mostly aluminum when im done with it.
bassplay
Aug 02, 2003, 12:36 PM
ok i was able to find the site..well they dont have anything for my buggy..well nothing except shocks.i dont need them but if mine ever go out or i need new ones ill get them from RPM.

well my car came white with decals..i couldnt take the decals off and pant it then put them back on so i went and took masking tape and masked off all the decals then hung it up with a wire and painted it with spray paint.the paint is just a few bucks from the local hardware store.it turned out great and is holding up perfect.when its done drying i just take the tape off and there ya go.

It's not a great photo but here's mine.
http://www.moselle.com/~jamesd/images/rc/rustler/rustler.jpg
It's a Traxxas Rustler with the .15 engine. I bought it used a couple of months ago. Since then I've added an aluminium rear shock tower and bulkhead, rear a-arms, and front C-blocks.
This car runs great and can just outrun my friend's SportMax with the new 2.5 engine.
Lots of fun for just playin' around.
