I have a budget of £200 to spend on a new computer radio. I am torn between
the Hitec Eclipse 7 and the Futaba Field Force 6.

A little while ago I had a JR X-3810 but cant afford to get another one at
the moment. Is the eclipse as good as it looks or does the price reflect the
quality.

Should I go for Futaba as they are more popular or is there not much in it??

Comments and views very much appreciated.

Don't get the FF6. Due to it having no pitch or throttle curves, I out-grew
mine within 6 months or so. I would steer clear of the Hitech also - their
servos have a poor reputation for reliability in helis.. Why not have a
look at the Sanwa RD6000 super? It's in your price range and has 5 point
pitch/ throttle curves which means it'll take you all the way to 3d's-ville
no problemo.

the first eclipse 7 had a problem
that was fixed
i have tryed a friends and found it much better than the futaba tx
much more mixing etc
i have also had many new futaba servo's fail on me
2 heli's in bits
so i tryed the hitec servo's and so far have not had any problems( sorry had
one from new that did not work so i had it changed with no problem)
the standard hitec servo is much faster than the futaba as well
most modelers have used the same type of radio gear from day one
i am willing to try anything
at the end of the day it is up to you
what you feel right with
my next step is to sell my ff6 and ff7 and buy the eclipse 7
as like you i don't have the cash to get the all singing top of the range tx
