View Full Version : How do they do that?

I saw something the other day that amazed me quite frankly. I saw a bloke
do several auto rotation landings with a Raptor 60 - not truly remarkable I
hear you say. No, it was just one of these that amazed me and I wondered
how he did it and I did not get the chance to ask him.

The heli was at quite a high altitude facing the wind and he hit throttle
hold, the heli just seemed to stay there for ages - I expected to see it
drop quite fast like all the other times but no, the head speed didn't seem
to pick up appreciably either - it was like there was almost infinite
reserve there. Eventually after what seemed like ages, he seemed to decide
he wanted it to come back down so it came down but he still hovered it for a
while almost at his feet - again, still lots of inertia left in the rotors.

I want to learn autos and it seemed such a leisurely way of doing one - it
seemed like he had all the time in the word, how is this possible?
Basically, how did he do that?
