What would be nice is a thread that lists the various sims and where to find them. But I would rather leave the discussions on how to make them work/which one is best for other threads.
To start things off:
Aerofly Pro, EasyFly, PiccoFly, Aerofly (http://www.ipacs.de)
Downloads for various sims (http://rc-sim.de)

Good idea, I'll make this sticky so it stays at the top of the forum. Please add any other good sites, either for simulators themselves or downloads for them.
As Dave said let's keep this thread for site links and start any discussions in other threads.

here is a pretty good heli simulator (its free and runs on OSX)
http://alphaomega.software.free.fr/rchelicoptersimulator/RC%20Helicopter%20Simulator.html
also you can get a usb to transmitter cable from
http://www.milehighwings.com/
they dont suport macs, but they do work with osx with no software to install.... they have all interfaces to usb (I have been using mine with the button pushed in on the usb cable)
little expensive, but the simulator does not cost anything... so its not that bad of a total investment.

Do you have Excel 97 ? And you lack money to buy Flight Simulator ? No problem . Consistent with Windows 98 and IE 4.0 , MS has used their philosophy of "Everything inside one" ! Try these , unbelievable , but it works .
Restart Excel 97 .
Open a new blank document .
Press F5 .
A reference box will open , type in X97:L97 and press ENTER .
Press TAB .This will take you to the cell M97 .
Click on the chart wizard button while holding down Control and Shift keys .
Presto ! You are in Flight Simulator . Use mouse to navigate and mouse buttons for speed control . Control+Shift+Escape ends this and takes you back to Excel .

This software has everything, from realistic physics, easy-to-use, but comprehensive interface, realistic crashes with damage calculation, calculation of forces, realistic engine start and weight, and even the blinding sun. By far the best free simulator I have tried, makes FMS look like a toy. Wierd that almost nobody really seems to use it, that I can't understand.

I am new to RC Airplanes and just downloaded the new FMS program and it works fine, however, there are only a few models included. I know there are sites that have models that can be downloaded, but I don't know how. I would appreciate it very much if someone would walk me thru how to download and incoroperate the models into the FMS program. I realize that this is more of a computer operation question than a simulator question, but I still need help. Thanks very much.

Download the Zip files of your choice from the many sites below and unzip all into a temporary new folder on your desktop or elsewhere on your PC.
When you have your choices unzipped (FWIW I now have 340+)
1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. On top toolbar open "edit" then click "select all".
3. Reopen "edit" and select "copy".
4. Open "program files" [in need open main hard drive usually (C) to view program files alphabetically down list]
5. Open "FMS" and select "Model" folder and then right click and "paste" your copied model files into the folder.
Open your FMS and you should see all the new models - then your "temporary" folder may be deleted.
Refer to Alan's Hobby, Model & RC Web Links

in particular check "TTi Tom's - How to set up PC USB Port, Calibrate TX and more " at http://www.tti-us.com/sim/aircraft.html has some good instructions.

I was at Toledo last weekend where I saw and flew Hangerr 9's, FS One. I liked it but even better, I was there when an aerobatic pilot was flying and he said things like, "It's just like flying my airplane" The development of this sim has taken a long time because the PHYSICS is correct and is applied to the dynamics of the model on the screen.
This simulator will only be released when it is right.
You can visit the website at <www.fsone.com> but don"t expect much.

I use CRRCSim on Mac OSX:

User group at:

I've got a Futaba radio, and managed to make a cable to use with it that just plugs into my Mac PowerBook G4 audio in port.
Not a lot of planes, but a good variety including trainers, aileron, aerobatics, sailplanes, and flying wings.
It's possible to create new aircraft, but I haven't even tried that yet.

I made a few models for FMS. They are located here.

I will move them to a new site later, but for now I will post all my new models there. As of now, I do not have plans on releasing any more models soon, but I will announce new releases as they come.

Are there any good free rc-helicopter simulators other than FMS out there?
PreFlight seems to be payware now.

Here's ClearView. Although I've only been using it for a week now, IMHO it's as good as Real Flight at a fraction of the cost. Very good, prompt technical support and it can import FMS models & landscapes too. Check it out.
