Just wanted to post this here so you all would be aware of it...there's a great, FREE, Open Source R/C slope soaring simulator available from a guy in England named Danny Chapman. I've been fooling around with it for a number of months now and it's really nice. They've got a Yahoo! Group to help with any questions, and there's the ability to add new models and terrains easily. It's great!

You can also practice Dynamic Soaring in SSS:

Also, SSS will work with any transmitter interface that allows your computer to recognize your transmitter as a joystick. So one of the interfaces that connect to your gameport will work fine (I've used one from SimBlaster.com), and my Realflight G2 USBInterlink works great as well. Serial interfaces for FMS do not work with SSS, as far as I know.

Try posting a message to the SSS mailing list, accessible via the Yahoo! Group for the site. Danny Chapman is very good about helping people get it going. You might want to be a little more detailed about what happens when it doesn't work...i.e. does it crash, does it lock up, what error messages (if any) do you receive, do you have the latest drivers for your video card, and so forth.
Hope that helps!

Hey why not revive an old thread.
I went to the Yahoo group and used my existing Yahoo login. Got the files and installed on my 3.4GHz P4, XP Pro, SP2, and it works just fine. I'm having trouble DSing but thats OK - I can't DS a real one either.
Currently I'm using an OLD PC joystick to fly on but intent to get a transmitter interface.
For the price (free) it's worth a try. I'm kinda glad I didn't spend a bunch on another product because I can't see me using it enough to justify the cost.
All the best
Barry
