I own this now along with Addons & use it exclusivly... (The harrier is way fun in addon 4)

From their WebBoard it seems that even this product had some rough beginnings until a few months ago.

My biggest problem with R/C sims is a lack of support for a common Transmitter interface. The old joystick ports way of connecting is almost dead (yea) & USB is plain awesome compared to trying to get 2 joysticks to work off your soundcard joyport.

The RealFlight USB transmitter is great... Too bad they didn't think ahead to make it a standard 2 joystick-like device you could use for your other Flight sim games.... (please change this soon!!) Then they could sell it as a seperate package for other FS's.

Also the terrain is weird where you can fly off the "planet" & view the terrain edgewise & as you get clse to the edge the "world" closes in very weirdly. They should make their world larger & include out-of-range if you goto far.

Also the rudder control is weird (as it is in many sims) it like jerks your plane sideways but with little effect so it makes flying the small electrics on rudder only almost impossible & unrealistic.

But, IMO it is the best out there especially in a XP world & will continue to be because they offer a great USB transmitter & do support it. (Just wish it were a generic joystick driver)

Realflight is pretty much the only game in town. I've used it since it was first released. Before that I used Dave Browns Sim. My only beef with Realflight is with it's expandability. While I thought custom trim schemes was a major marketing point for G2 I would still like to see an sdk or module that would give users the ability to build new models. While I realize that making your own 3d models is not for the faint of heart, there are those out there who have the skills to do this. FMS is a good illustration of this ability. I also think that with the quality and features available in this sim that Knife Edge could finally divorce themselves from Great Planes and all for a more diverse selection of models. Although I enjoy flying the different GP models I would certainly welcome some new additions.

Greg, how do I get together with you guys to do some flying via g2? I have the software but never can find a server that hosts any group type flying....

PS - thanks for the help on my cobra
