I've owned RCFS DOS versions 3 & on including RCFS 2001. The DOS versions were great especially the Hanger addon & ran it well using 2 old style Kraft Joysticks to simulate a transmitter. (Those were the days)

I emailed John Kallend who wrote it & had great success but was way too long in coming for a Windows version. I think the Windows version RCFS has nothing to do with the DOS version codewise.

RCFS 2001, I had a long/Hard time trying to get to work on joysticks in Windows. I think it works now though. I really don't like the realism & I think it's a dead product now.

I could do loops & on the second loop the plane would just plow down & crash & not enter the second loop.

Graphics/Interface/Qty of planes/Support all sup-par in an XP world...

RCFS is my first simulator and I have had no trouble getting it to run and the simulation is, for the most part, quite realistic. All planes fly as I would expect and I have not had the experience mentioned above. I have noted that I have managed to save a plane or two that should have crashed (heading straight for ground, full up elevator about two feet from ground, no crash!???

I don't believe an actual airplane would have performed that way.
My main complaint is that there is a limited number of airplanes available and no way to input more unless Dave and company provide them - at additional cost, of course.

HOWEVER, the simulator is doing what is the most important part of its intended purpose (for me, at least). It is letting me experience handling an airplane that is coming towards me, is upside down, is light foam electric or heavy glow powered, has or doesn't have ailerons, etc., etc. So the Mustang doesn't fly exaclty like its real life counterpart; who cares, its close enough. No simulator is going to substitute for the real thing in real environmental conditions - it will just take care of the basics and maybe a little more. Actual flying is more fun and more instructive and doing so will do the most for making one a better pilot.
