I've flown R/C for over 30 years & am also into computers & simulations since DOS 1.1... (& paid way too much) These are my opinions...
First, the market for R/C Sims must be really soft as many come & go & leave you with a purchase that doesn't fully work & won't work on the next generation OS.
Cut to the Chase/Details later:
RealFlight is the only supported SIM I know of that works well on WinXP & has it's own transmitter that goes to USB & has any level of support.
I ended up selling my RCFS DOS, RCFS 2001, Cockpit Master, Backyard Edition, RC Simulator with Transmitter interface to buy RealFlight USB...
The biggest issue in R/C sims is getting a fully supported transmitter interface on USB for WinXP & Win9X. (RealFlight could fix this for everybody if they architected their USB Transmitter driver to be generic)
Details in my other messages to keep them shorter:
