I just acquired an old twin motor "Fast Cat" (tunnel boat?) on ebay.

I think this is probably a Kyosho model, but am not sure as there is no
brand identification on the hull. Does anyone recognize what brand this
boat is from the picture?

I changed the motor wiring from series to parallel so each motor would get
the full battery voltage and it seems to run at several miles per hour, and
handles very well, decent for my first boat.

I would like to upgrade some things for more speed, but first I need to know
the specs on the motors that are in there. These are Kyosho Lemans 600E
motors. I believe the 600 meant they would run 600 seconds, presumably on a
1200 mAh battery which was likely the typical of those times back in the
1980's. Does anyone know the number of turns and power or other specs of
these motors? It seems to me that max RPM is only important if the motor
can sustain that when turning the propeller under load, so I'm thinking I
need a motors and props matched set.

Any suggestions for type of propeller upgrade and better motors are welcome.
Thanks,
JD

I have one of these boats. They were made by MRP in the late 80's.
I not sure on those motors,
I haven't ran mine in about 5 years, I'm now installing a pair of Kyosho
Magnetic Mayhem,
One fwd, one rev rotation with counter-rotating Props. (Octura x430 for
Direct-Drive).

Any High Torque, 17 turn+ motor would be a good bet. ie: Kyosho Atomic Force
(17 Turn),
Trinity Speedworks Pro Amber (17 Turn). Both of these use larger brushes for
higher current flow. Also a Magnetic Mayhem (22 Turn, .075 size, Monster
Truck).

This boat was design to use two 6-7 cell battery packs in series, with both
motors
wired in series also.
That resistor speed control sucks. I got rid of mine after is stuck wide open.
I got a Tekin Marine 432 ESC that handle 4-32 cells.
Any good ESC's that can handle 12+ cells, (Astroflight, Traxxas E-max's, or
their new Marine EVX)
Also www.offshoreelectrics.com have some ESC also.
