Patrick,
About a few months ago, I decided to get a Razor 2500a and a CC Phoenix 25. Since then, I've had to return the Razor twice because the pinion slipped on the shaft.
At first, I thought it was the motor, so did Matthew at Razor. But then I remembered similar issue my friend Neil Morse was having with his Hacker B20-15L and a Phoenix 25. He was having insane amounts of vibration and the pinion slippage. after a few months of emails, fixes, trial and error, he narrowed it down to his Phoenix 25 when he replaced the one he was using with another borrowed from a friend. No more vibration. Problem solved.
I just got my motor back from Razor for the second time. Fixed from the same ailment. I spent quite a bit of time thinking about this issue when it dawned on me that it could very easily be the esc. I hooked it up my test stand and noticed the vibration/jack-hammering effect, even at full throttle. So I shut it down - and here I sit. Aside from the vibration, I also get quite a loud growling from the motor at low throttle. which, I think could exacerbating the 'jack-hammering' at the pinion joint to the motor shaft. Could there be a bad chip on the board? It's happened before with a brand new Phoenix 10 I purchased.
So, the mere 20 bucks I've spent shipping the motor back and forth is not a big deal. I just want to fly. It's been going on for a few weeks now and it's getting frustrating.
What should I do? send the esc back to you Patrick?
cheers,
Harry O
