Just started using a new Pheonix 35, mfg'd 9-04-02.....Seems to work OK except during Transmitter range test, where with TX antenna down, and moving away from model, motor will self-start to some arbitrary RPM, and then can't be throttled all the way off ... I can create this effect every time i range test but never notice servos flutter or control loss... Seems to fly and throttle perfectly to hi altitude and far flying range provided i don't do any "antenna down" range test before flite . Have used only the factory default esc settings... Is this normal ?? Scares me a little, as i always do a range test before first days flite Never noticed this before during 1000's of brushed esc flites .........kw

OK... i reprogrammed the Throttle option from "Auto" to "Fixed" just to experiment with....Motor does still Auto-Start at extreme range test (but now only when other servos start twitching, indicating out-of-range) and now have total control of motor throttle when moved back closer to model for in-range ...Motor now does not continue to run at some RPM and can totally turn off .... Does this seem normal now ?? ... thanks.... kw

Killer - If you use auto calibrating throttle, run your throttle throught the whole range (0-max-0) BEFORE beginning your range check. This will prevent the controller from trying to calibrate on junk from the receiver when you are out of range.

Thanks, Pat for reminding me of the "throttle blip" proceedure..i didn't realize it had important effects and i sorta ignored it in the very well written "owners manual" (if i can effortlessly get through the programming mode, it's gotta be good) .... btw, if Bec issues occur because of servo loads, do my Bec(s) shutdown because of internal V-reg pkg thermal(wattage) heating effects or amp limmiting ??.... and would either removing the Neg lead's rubber insulation or adding a longer, air exposed heat sink fin to the Bec's existing heat tab ??..... thanks and keep up the fantastic product & support...... kw
