My Rapter 50 rotates slowly anticlockwise, can I correct this with altering
the trim or should the giro(csm 400, JR 378) take care of this, meaning I
have set the giro up wrong or it's faulty?

Does the tail rotor have sufficient travel?

I have full movement ..... In hover I can increase the error by moving the
stick right or stop it by moving the stick about 1/5 of the way in the other
direction!!!

Okay, well from my limited experiene of my Nexus I'd say the tail rotor is
just centred wrongly, much like an aileron or rudder on FW. Effectively you
have too much or too little pitch, allowing too much or too little effect at
neutral.
Disconnect the tail rotor pushrod, extend or shorten it to reset the neutral
tail pitch and retry. I understand that simply trimming will confuse a gyro
and offsetting a digital servo is something they don't like. Much better to
adjust the pushrod length to reset the pitch itself.

You should correct it with adjusting your rod-lengths.
Adjust via trim until the model is consistent.
Then make a mark or take note to where the tailpitchlever is. Then center
trim and adjust rodlengths to make the heli steady with trim at center.
I belive that a heli should be set up mechanicly to hold the nose a steady
as possibly without the use of a gyro, then apply the the gyro.
The way to do this in my case is having a dual-rate gyro.
Set rate one to minimum gain, and rate 2 to enought gain to keep my tail
steady. Then in a steady hover I switch to low gain and see where the nose
goes. Apply gain again, land and adjust the rod to wipe out the tails
tendency to move.
Then, try again.
Of course without gyro/gain it's hard to make the heli 100 % steady, but
gets me near enough.
