If you could have only four "nostalgic" or classic Thermal ships, what would the be?
Mine:
1. Lee Renaud Esprit
2. Bird of Time
3. Aquila Grande
4. Sailaire

Godspeed and see you on the flipside,

3. Paragon - can't find a kit - one on eBay is over $100!!!
4. Oly II or LegionAire - hard one to decide there
Don't tell my Moldie friends. I will deny it!

I have a Paragon.
The Bird Of Time will be next.
Maybe the Legionair after that, or a Sailair.
More than 3 big birds in the house is grounds for Divorce in my wifes opinion.....

1.) Legionair 100
2.) Legionair 132
3.) Legionair 140
4.) Grand Esprit
I am flying a Legionair 140 and 100 that I scratch built. I am in the process of building an OLY II for Deano, and a BoT for me. Skybench is still weeks out on kit availability for the Legionairs, and I suspect the kit prices will be a bit high. These ships are hard to get trimmed amd balanced correctly, but the last 2 flights on the L140 have been 52 and 47 minutes...and I thermal the 100 out from handlaunches pretty regularly. I will probably build an Astro Jeff this winter, just because I always wanted one.:D

But, if we only count one of each of the above ;) I would add:

Something to look at . Here is and older oriinal design that I am reconditioning . Its about 12--15 years old and a wonderful thermal sailplane for its size. 133 inches, RES. Need to finish the stab and cover. More later Dewey12

I aready have an Oly II and a MM Wanderer, I dearly love both. The Wanderer is a very sweet flyer for its basic construction, I can see why it was a popular beginners 72" ship in the '70's.
A Marks Model's Wanderer 99
A MM Windfree
Roger Sander's Windfreak
I'm torn between a bunch of the old Craft-Air ships but I'd have to have a Viking, and I love the Windrifter.
I've noticed that there wasn't much mention of 72" ships from that era, with todays light equipment you could make some awesome versions of old classics like the Drifter II, Sig Riser, Astro-Flight Super Malibu, even not so pretty designs from back then like the Soar Birdy, Ace High and even the Airtronics Square Soar (Blech!)
