I'm looking to pick up a good, detailed reference book on aircraft design- preferably one that specifically covers model aircraft design, but a good book on full size aircraft will do also. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've volunteered to be an alumni advisor for the SAE Aero team at my undergrad school and would like to get some good reference material.
Thanks, Bob

Basics of R/C Model Aircraft Design By Andy Lennon from the publishers of Model Airplane News is good, except for its reference to outdated NACA airfoil applications to models.
Model Aircraft Aerodynamics by Martin Simons is also a good reference but with less emphasis on design.
X-Foil is probably the best tool for airfoil design. See:
http://raphael.mit.edu/xfoil/
Profoili 2 is one of the best an least expensive rib and airfoil template plotters. See:

There are some good performance prediction programs like:
http://my.athenet.net/~atkron95/pcsoar.htm
and
http://www.motocalc.com/motocalc.htm
There are configuration programs like Plane Geometry:

Best advice: "Finish early enough to do extensive flight testing to work out the bugs."
