View Full Version : Opinions Wanted: TMaxx 2.5 or Duratrax Thunderquake

Let's hear the opinions. I'm getting back into RC. Had a 1/10 scale nitro
buggy before, and now I'm looking at a monster truck to get back into it.
I'm interested in reliability/quality, upgradeability/repairability, and
speed, in that order. It's been a while since I've done this, but I loved
the nitro tinkering and modifying. The one thing I'll miss with these 2 kits
is the building, so if there is a comparable kit available, I'm all ears!
Any input will be appreciated.

Check out the HPI Savage. It's more expensive and 1/8th but it's awesome!

T-Maxx, from the choices you listed, and with the most upgradeability in the
market. The Savage is also a good choice.

Associated should be releasing the "BFT" this summer. It may be worth the wait.

Maxx all the way. You can buy hop ups anywhere and Traxxas has the BEST customer support.

My vote : Traxxas T-MAXX
I have both, ThunderQuake and T-MAXX and i prefer the T-Maxx.
Maybe if I put a good engine in my TQ, I will change my mind but for now,
I prefer my ported TRX .15 w/ligh t-maxx over my ThunderQuake torq 21
w/big wheel and tire...
For the price, ThunderQuake
If the price is not important, T-MAXX with a pack of upgrade to .21..
Bye

My stock TQ keeps up with my friend's savage, no problem. It's a little
slower off the line, but it catches up.
