Brand new.. rigged just like directions...everything seemed free and smooth. Launched.. everything OK, throttle up and it putted along 2-4MPH, never enough to get up on step. Ran around for a while...battery gets low (second cycle), beach it, raise cover and POOF... hotter than a two dollar cook stove. Motor HOT, battery pack HOT, smelled HOT.. it WAS hot !... Any comments ? Thanks Don -Basehor, Ks.

It seems like there is very little that could go wrong with a graupner boat.
My first thought is that something is binding. I usually leave some forward and backward play on my shafts. about 1/16".
Make sure you put some sort of lubricant on the shaft, or in the stuffing tube. If anything is binding or dragging then the motor will draw more amperage and heat up.
Conversely
Make sure the gears are all locked down. If the gears are spinning on the shafts The motor could be partially free running and running at too high an rpm, but not spinning the shaft or propeller.
good luck,
Keep us up to date on the progress

OK, will bring to shop as soon as the "electrical hot smell" and the Mrs. can get along !!.. The end play is pretty close, so will change that.. everything lubed per instructions e t c. Will double check the lockdowns are proper.. Instructions said 20MPH or something like that... no way.. We'll See. Thanks for the input.. Don-Basehor, Ks
