Now what about oil content?

No less than 18% and NO castor.

Thats good advice Beav,
I have been using the Bekra blend by Model Technics. After using 24 gallons
in 3 different engines, I pulled one apart, It was clean and shiny inside.

I used to use Contest 10 ( I think this has 2 percent castor oil amongst
others)but this carbons up quite badly quite quickly leaving a thick carbon
deposit on the piston crown and brown stains on the side of the piston.

Regards Steve

The carbon deposits on the piston crown shouldn't be a problem (it actually
aids in keeping compression) but the crap on the piston sides causes nothing
but drag and an inability for heat to tranfer out of the piston. That needs
to be kept to an absolute minimum.

I run both ModelTechnics and TechnoFuel, but neither of the cans says
anything about how much the oilcontent is.
Does anyone know or have a link ?

I run mine with a full pipe 30% nitro and 14% Klotz synthetic oil. It might
come apart tomorrow but after 5 gallons it is all but new.
