Went up to McGuires Peaks in Sunol yesterday, early. What a site. Hellaciously steep drop-off on the East side and very good separation. West side is steep but it has a bunch of humps and gulleys disturbing the flow. It wasn't blowing too hard (15mph maybe) when I was there. Probably too early. Lift came was a little sketchy. Must of had some boomer thermals coming through. This is definitely a world class DS spot. Got some DS in myself. What a walk, I was completely wiped out after the hike back. Probably would have bone better if I had brought more than 1 bottle of water. 1 hour up and 1 hour back (if you want to park in designated parking areas, which I did), fire roads mostly, except for about 1/2 mile of cross country to get up to the peaks.
