Now that the good flying season is nearly here (at least in Arizona) I wanted to post a reminder about the electric soaring contest being held near Phoenix at the end of October. We are still accepting applications and have lots of new information up on the web site. The event is an electric powered version of the popular F3J FAI glider competition and similar to AMA LMR glider events. It has a normalized man-on-man format with the top fliers fighting it out on the last day. We will fly three classes during the weekend including Speed 400, 7-cell and Unlimited.
The flying site is rented out special for this weekend and has very nice facilities and camping on site. We do a big BBQ dinner on Saturday night and a huge raffle on Sunday. Vendors will be in attendance and will be doing demo flights on Sunday before the awards ceremony. Please visit the web site and come join us if you can. The event is sponsored by Silent Flyer Magazine (http://www.semodeler.com) , Aero-Model, Inc. (http://www.aero-model.com) , Central Arizona Soaring League (http://www.casl.net) and Hacker Brushless Motors (http://www.hackerbrushless.com) .

We have moved the event location about 6 miles southeast of the normal site due the the property being sold. The new location is a sod farm with lots of wide open flying areas. Please visit the website for more details. We are still accepting applications in Speed 400 and Unlimited classes. The 7 cell class is closed with a waiting list for no shows.
