Has anyone bought from Cyber Heli??
Are the goods 'duty paid'?? or are they subject to Duty / VAT etc?? (in the
UK)
Thanks

Cyberheli is excellent!
And I believe from reading other responses that there is No Duty or VAT
charges for the UK from Hong Kong!
Cyberheli is top notch though and their prices can't be beat!
Just my 2 cents worth.

The goods "we" use ARE subject to VAT, but Cyber label them up as "Toy
Helicopter" parts and they're VAT free. Yer pays yer money and yer takes yer
chance. Most people take the chance.

I've bought four times from Cyberheli and agree with what's been said in
this thread. The other thing to say is that every time I've ordered,
normally on a Sunday evening, the goods have arrived on the Wednesday
morning. In other words as fast as most UK dealers deliver.
As an example, JR 3810, £193 + about £16 for delivery. (tranny only)
UK price approx £350
Go buy with confidence!

Thanks to all that have replied.
I bought an FF9 from them a month ago, and am delighted with it.
However, I've just spent a few quid on a Raptor v2 50, a JR Voyager EP, some
nice fast 9253 tail servo, and PCM receivers.
I wasn't sure if the parts would be taxable....
Cheers
P.S. Anyone know a good place to buy battery packs for my Voyager EP??

Beav,
I believe you are finally wrong !
Toy helicopter parts are subject to VAT, same as anything else (apart from
some books, childrens clothes, ...). The reason CyberHeli get away with it
is because they stick the price on as a USD amount, marked as HKD currency.
This significantly reduces the apparent value. The labelling as 'toy'
instead of 'model' reduces the amount of import duty.
Now from experience, quite often you do get away VAT and duty free, and when
you do get caught, it is usually way below what it should be ('cos of the
HKD/USD pricing). I have bought form CH on more than 10 occasions in the
last year. Small packets typically get away duty free, but *not* if you use
an express delivery service. Big parcels (IME) get caught every time,
though for a fract what they should be (that old HKD/USD thing).
One thing I have experienced with CyberHeli in recent times, is they are
fine if you are ordering, but if you have a problem the turn around now is
way too long. Plus, for the items *I* now buy the price savings are really
not worth it. May as well buy here and negotiate (for example, 9350 servos
were cheaper from SkyLine the from CyberHeli)

Interesthting... Veeeeery intersthting. I would account for the one or two
guys who HAVE been required to pay duty, not having to pay much though.

I'll take your word for it Andy, it makes a lot of sense.

Agreed if the place WILL negotiate. Some don't though.

Been caught out paying duty for the goods on serveral occasions...though
after paying for £50 odd pounds on delivery plus the
duty...(Raptor kit)still worked out way cheaper than UK prices.
Last kit I ordered got away without....which in the end is an added bonus!
...One problem I have had is that I had ordered 6 constant auto pulleys for
some club members, have been charged
for them, and still awaiting the parts after about two months...Been
chasing, but apparently they are still waiting for
shipments from Thunder Tiger for these parts!
....apart from that..they are pretty good on fast delivery. One kit was
ordered Friday night...and came to me the Monday!
....I would still use them though for Kits, radio...and anything large...
.....Spare parts i order from UK.. Find that Skyline and Helibits are
exceptionally fast on delivery...
..........The other Large(st) heli shop in the uk (Guess who!) my brother
ordered parts Tuesday Morning....Friday afternoon call to them chasing for
the
parts..They still hadn't sent them out! Now that's what I call some service!
....I just wonder if anyone else has the same problem with them?!?!?

Just wondering what currency Cyberheli are using. Is it Hong Kong Dollar, or
what? Did a convert from HKD to Norwegian Kr, on a Three-Dee NT, and figured
it couldn“t be right.....

I bought a Rpator 30 plus some other bits and pieces from them recently. I
didn't choose express delivery and still got the items in just over a week.
I *did* have to pay some customs duty though, but since (as far as I can
work out) the value on the outside of the box was quoted in HKD (should have
been US$), this was far less than it might otherwise have been. £20 duty on
£300 of kit. All worked out a lot cheaper than buying in the UK and very
convenient, since I don't have a local shop.

<sigh> read the website/above posts. Cyberheli sell using US dollars.
They ship after accidentally marking as HK dollars (you just can't get
the help). You have figured out the difference yourself. Toy
heli/Model heli. There is actually a difference Andy, the rate for
some toys is 5%VAT and as you are aware, big boys toys attract 17.5%
The VAT office themselves aren't 100% on this and actually need a
commodity code, the implication that it is a toy however usually seals
it's fate as the bad publicity which would surround the "taking from
the mouths etc" almost certainly guarantees the lower rate. I am not
for one second suggesting that this is etched in tablets of stone,
sometimes you will get a complete tosser who will "enforce the law",
like the police officer who gave me a ticket las week for parking for
three minutes in a "prohibited zone" while he watched me struggle to
get a box the size of a small refigerator into the boot of the car in
the POURING RAIN! In MAN-CHES-TAH!!!
