Thank you for the link. I can't even turn up a link on goggle. Know of any
others? I'd like to look at a selection. Boat about 24" long with a strong
engine in it.

The single piston Midwest is not a very powerful engine.
One of the local guys had one in an "African Queen".
It could barely move itself.
Check some of the model boat magazines for other options, however, they will not be cheap.

you need to make sure the valve surfaces are very smooth and that they
match. admittedly they aint fast compared to anything else, but steam aint
about speed

A recent issue of Marine modeller international magazine had an article
on a steam turbine powered model called the "Turbinia". The modeller made
his own steam turbine with common brass pieces. The magazine is published
by http://www.traplet.com and they do sell back issues.

I disagree with steam not being about speed. I have witnessed a flash steam
powered tethered hydro doing 116mph!

I thought I saw a model of the "African Queen" awhile back in a hobby shop.
Wooden model and a steam engine. Eric
