I've just got back from the Large Model Association's event at Longhorsley in Northumberland, UK.
The photo is of Ian Turney-White's Bull dog at 1/2 scale!
It's a magnificent beast powered by, I believe, a 450cc motor.

......and just look at the superb workmanship and detail of the dummy engine and metalwork.

A rather nice two seat Spitfire (the Grace machine?)

...and a superb B17 (flew formation with the next photo machine)

Apparently there was a third B17 which didn't make it to yesterday's show - I was told it ran out of steam during a low roll and went in inverted.

As a contrast, an immaculate Cessna - no rivet detail, but looked beautiful and flew well.

Is this one of the new breed of pylon racers? Nice model and flew well.

Can you tell? - I'm in love with my new digital camera!
Miles Magister - a regular performer at shows now and worth a look each time. Flown by Steve Holland who had a 1/2 scale Zlin(?) which flew the tightest schedule of aerobatics.

You're doing a brilliant job with the new digital Tony. The Spitfire might just get to be my new wallpaper if that's okay with you.

Just learned tonight that the beautiful Bristol Bulldog crashed on Monday afternoon, causing extensive, though repairable, damage to the front end :(

I was told today that the Bulldog was badly damaged in a crash on Monday - possibly a stall during a wing-over with insufficient height to recover fully. The model is apparently repairable.
I've seen a number of Ian's models - they all fly well and he has no problems keeping them flying for years, so this seems to be just one of those things.
I hope it is flown again.

Beautiful pictures Tony... What is the model of digital camera that you're using? Thanks..

It's a Fujifilm FinePix 2800Zoom - 2megapixels and 6 x optical zoom. It's big advantage is an electronic screen viewfinder. Although it has a screen on the back, it gets difficult to use in sunlight and the usual lcd display for settings on most cameras is also difficult under some conditions - that's why I like the electronic rather than optical viewfinder. It also effectively gives a ttl view with macro which avoids parallax problems close up.
It takes up to 128meg cards so there's no problem with that either. If you go to www.steves-digicams.com you can get a good write-up of this and any other camera. This one is now replaced by a newer model at 3megapixels but at an appropriate price increase.
