Ah, yes. Sid reminds us of the old days and the
CompuServe ModelNet forum. Easily the best of the
early eflight brain trust sat on that list. Keith
Shaw, Tom Hunt, Sid, Herm and others.
I remember (naively, as I had just entered the realm of
e-flight), that I proposed static thrust as a method of
categorizing power system combinations. (There was
precious little info regarding what prop to use, how
many cells, etc., etc. Just word of mouth, and
Modelnet). Boy was I hammered. Pounded. Flames were
coming out of me everywhere!!! It seemed like the
whole list membership was marching thru my butt!!! I
naturally dropped the issue and quickly retreated.
Now that 3D flying is all the buzz, guess what's back
as a method of categorizing power systems?
As for Tom Miles, everybody has encountered a Tom at
one time or another. There is a little Tom Miles in
every "not sold in any store" commercial you see on
television. (Get rock-hard abs in six minutes. Melts
fat while you sleep).
