Rather new to eflight, but would like to know if anyone has used a DeWalt motor on a Big Lazy Bee. Particularly I would be interested in how you mount the H 1000 belt drive to the Bee. A picture or drawing would sure help. Looking at the pictures on the Modelaire site I cannot see how this would be possible without major modification to the nose firewall area.

Ed,

My current LB arf has a 1/8 ply base screwed to the stock motor bearers, with two 3/8 sq hardwood motor bearers, chamfered so the motor rests on them, then a single nyrod strap is holding it to the plate, 2-56 screws tighten it from underneath the plate. One reason I did it this was, instead of just using the stock system, is to raise my motor up for better prop clearance. You would prob want the 4-40 size nyrod for a bigger dewalt setup. It works well, and will give hopefully b4 damaging a prop shaft during unplanned arrivals.

Hope that helps,
David
