I just cracked open a laptop pack containing 8 X 1350 maH Li-Ion cells. Half
the cells dropped loose out of the pack, seems the spot welding to the
solder tabs were very poorly done.
Since these don't have solder tabs on them, I need some other way to connect
them. Soldering straight onto the cells seems like an incredibly bad idea,
since Li-Ion has all kinds of toxic explosive failure modes. I'm currently
thinking of just pressing/heatshrinking the solder tabs to the end of the
cells. I'll only be pulling about 2-3 amps, so I figure it should be OK.
Can anyone give some advice, some real experiences?
