Having recently snapped the wings off of my speed 400 powered Multiplex
Teddy doing aerobatics it was not designed for, I find myself in the
market for another plane.
What I am looking for is an electric park flyer. Something I can goof
around with in the school grounds across the street. I would like to
use my 600AE packs from the Teddy and go to Li in the near future. I
really like the extra safety that a pusher configuration affords when
park flying. With two active kids I don't have a lot of spare time so
want to fly not build. What recommendations does the group have?

Ken; You may want to take a look at the Hitech/Funtech Sky Scooter. It isn't
a pusher but a real fun plane.

The Tipsey with a motor change or a gearbox would use the batteries. Tha
only problem to overcome is the dihedral. I am going with a speed 300 with a
gear box so I can choose sport or just work up the time for some Child
teaching (mine are just ready)
Scott
P.S. Single nylon screw for the wing may need some thought for your style of
flying.I probably need to do the same .I just added alignment tubes to mine
when building so far so good but now there is that question floating about I
should address!

Come to think of it a set of Terry wing (also by graupner and 400 based)
could just do the trick and work both ways.

You don't say how you like to fly, though I gather it might be aerobatics. I
am much newer to flying, probably, than you and I couldn't be more pleased
with my slow stick. Based on the inexpensive modifications available to it,
it can do everything from being a camera platform to dropping parachutists.
It can handle 6 - 8 cell packs too. :-)
On mine, I have just purchased a Razor 350 brushless motor and will
install/fly it this weekend. It is an ugly plane, but slows down so nicely
that it'll float around the inside of a baseball diamond. Very relaxing
flying machine - just perfect for a toss-in-the-car and go type plane. IMHO
the Terry is much too quick for park flying unless you have a big park.
How about a tiger moth? Perhaps also not aerobatic enough?

The Wattage Hawk with Aileron/Rudder/Elevator/Throttle control is a good
"sporty" park flier. I've got two of them, one of which has a 1.2GHZ
camera/transmitter and a 9v battery incorporated into it. Your 600AEs would
work but it'll be fast and heavy. I've had a lot of luck with 8 cell AAA
and 5/4 AAA packs in it and my other "park flier" class ARFs. I've also got
a Wattage Sporty I'll be assembling some time this year and will be sure to
post a first flight report, but that's a ways off.
Wattage (Global Hobbies) have quite a few park sized models that'll probably
fit your bill. I've found http://www.hobbypeople.net to be a good source
for their products. Another kit of theirs I've got my eyes on is the new
Turbo Hawk... Its the regular hawk fuselage and wing with a nose cone & big
H tail. In place of a convential motor and prop is a ducted fan mounted
above the wing at cg.... uses 10 cell packs.

I actually really like the looks of the Tiger Moth. I have on a couple of
occasions come close to buying one. It is a wonderful plane. You really
might like the Grouper Tipsy small maneuverable and will slow as needed. I
am not sure about the camera option ,you would have to go to one of the
digital units. The Dihedral wings make it a very stable flyer so you have to
push it to get sporty or modify something prop , motor or add a gear box.
The Terry it's bigger brother 400 non pusher has flat wings and scoots along
nicely in a large school yard. You see I got the impression that you were as
bit faster than I. I fly to relax and with the Tipsy you can float about and
hunt for thermals. The Terry on the other hand is faster and much more
aerobatic but shorter in run time. But than that's why they make a bunch of
different planes. I like the Groupers as they don't take a lot of time to
mentally set yourself for a change and I would imagine this will help when I
get older plus with 4 children it's easier to move them up until they can
afford there own planes. I did buy a Beetroot 111. It fly's about 2 to 3
miles per hour should be something I can do with my father who flew when you
had to hand start your own planes (full size he would love to really fly but
unfortunately it will never happen. Nice chatting with you all for now
