Can you tell me a good way to remove the broken brush holders on Astroflight
40s, and a good cement for the replacements. ( 3+ weeks wait for receipt of
order from Marina Del Rey, Ca--and no clues on removal/installation) . Next
time I'll order from Texas (things go faster from east to west, and cost much
less) Thanks for any help. Ted in AZ

Thank goodness for T.A. Edison and his glue softening invention.[:-)
If it wasn't for T.A. Edison we would all be building "E" airplanes and
watching TV by candle light.

but lets not limit ourselves to just Mr. Edison. He may have started the
electricity bandwagon, but Tesla clearly perfected it.

I don't think direct current was an "invention" , anyway not by Edison.
And if our motors didn't have commutation (mechanical or electronic) to
switch polarity of the field windings
we wouldn't have enough power to fly our toys.

That is really neat! He passed well before my time but is at the top of my
list of dead people I'd like to talk to...
It is simply amazing the contributions to technology that can be traced back
to Nikola Tesla. For what its worth (and to try to stay somewhat on topic)
he invented the first remote control vehicle.. a boat ... I believe his
patent was something to the effect of "Wireless Transmission of Electrical
Energy".
It wasn't until after his death, and of course all rights to a patent
expired, that the US government named him the proper patent holder. I
remember being taught in Middle School that it was some guy named
Macroni(spl?) that Tesla didn't consider a threat because everything he was
selling was based on Tesla's work.
He was well ahead of his time and didn't always take the time to explain
himself... apparently one of his biggest faults as it was used against him
on numerous fronts, particularly his lifelong feud with Edison, which IMHO I
think was a very narrow minded business savy individual that doesn't deserve
half the credit he was given, as well as the countless others that profited
greatly from Tesla's work spanning electricity, phonography, Radio,
Radiology (first recorded x-ray was inadvertantly one of Tesla's appendages
while working with this coil), Ray guns, Mechanized Military, and numerous
other fields I can't recall at the moment.
Now if only we could find out if it was he who lit up that forest in
Northern Russia..... Ok off topic.

I suppose this is one of those weird coincidences of life, but Scott
McKie's work is based on Tesla and Scott was attempting to share his
interpretations of Tesla's efforts. You can even buy a tape of him talking
about Tesla. That's why so much of the language in his posts was a century
out of date.
And Scott has patented a perpetual generator that is purported to produce
more output power than is fed in. He used the name Richard McKie then (R.
Scott McKie now). Patent #5,146,395 if you want to look it up. No surprise
that it uses Litz wire.
Rick.
