Hey folks,

Quick question.

Just took out that 19-turn "standard" motor that came with my RTR TC3
and replaced it with a Monster Stock Pro from Trinity.

What size pinion should I be using? It was recommended that I used
26T....

Is this right? Should I be going higher (more teeth?) or lower (less
teeth)?

Thanks for the help.

It depends, are you running it on a racetrack, or just playing with
it? And if on a track, how big is it, or how small or tight? If you're
only playing in the street, then a 26 tooth pinion might be fine(&
could also be ok if you run on a track that is long & has flowing,
high speed corners). But if you're on a small or tight track, you'll
be overgeared & will put a lot of stress on the motor. The Monster has
a lot of top end to it, but is low on low-speed torque, so if
overgeared it'll feel very sluggish from a stop or out of tight
corners. To give you an idea of how gearing can vary, many of us in my
area(myself included) use the Monster at our local track, & most of us
use a final drive ratio of around 7.8-8.6:1(to give you an idea of
that, a 22 tooth pinion for yours would give you a final drive of
about 8.22:1). If we used a final drive more like you were thinking,
the motor would DEFINITELY be overgeared & make the car quite slow to
accelerate, plus it would not have enough room on the back
straightaway to hit its top speed, so its ability to rev would go to
waste. I hope this helps give you some idea of what to do, if you
still have questions though, just give a holler...:)
