Flying the weekend of May 17-18

Don't forget that the CSS is holding their Memorial Contest the weekend of May 17-18. The VOA Park people are very excited about this event, and for that event only they have moved the flying site to the ball fields on the Southeast corner of the VOA! This is a big step toward establishing a more permanent flying site at the VOA for "silent flight!" Come early to fly electrics that weekend, but remember, no more flyhing after 9:30 am which is when the CSS starts their contest! Plan to stay and watch the contest, it can be exciting watching 7 pilots launch at the same time and then shoot spot landings at the end of the flight time! I think this is great - it will give people some exposure to the hobby and hopefully help to convince the park that we have enough people that are interested to make our field a permanent part of the park. I'm sorry that I won't be there to spectate as I'll be on my way to Japan that Saturday, but I hope you have good weather and it goes well.

P.S. As a side note, the shared use of our field by both clubs seems to be going well. :)
