I'm very happy to announce that Cricklade Model Flying Clubs' indoor competition is back on for 21st Oct 2001. Our competitions and shows are more about fun than anything else. Although the exact structure and timetable for the day has not been finalised, here is what you can expect :-

The competition is based upon your model and flying skills, but the best pilot and the best model may not necessarily win. The competition is designed to ensure that regardless of skill and budget, everyone has a chance of winning. The comp is based around a decathlon, a series of events that you accumulate points for. You can choose participate in as many or as few events as you wish. For each event you take place in, you receive a number of points depending on how well you did. Some events are flown solo, whilst others may have up to four aircraft in the air at the same time.

The number of different events held will depend on the number of entrants who turn up on the day. An pilot may enter more than one aircraft into the competition, but they will be scored separately. ( So no choosing a different model for each event )

The minimum number of events will be : -

Burn & Glide
Pylon Racing
Limbo
Spot Landings
Carrier Landings ( not the same as spot landings )
Indoor combat

Just to add that the comp will now also include a heli event ( just for fun ) for those EP Concept, Piccolo and other mini Electric Helis.

Also, a bullseye competition :

Take off, fly for xxx seconds and land within a 1m circle. Where xxx is the channel number of your frequency, timed from launch to the first impact with the ground. Points for landing within the circle and for flights of the correct duration. hurrah !

With everyone else flying Piccolos / micro helis at our club, and me flying an EP Concept - I would love to say 'Yes'. I would even go so far to say that I would take on twenty others at a time....

Unfortunately we only have the hall for nine hours, and heli-combat wouldn't give enough time to pick up all the pieces.

I would to video such and event though... must be a vicious streak I have. :p
