Im not sure if this is the right forum but here it goes. I have a HL Skimmer 400 and want to extend the fuse. Is there a ratio to how much I should extend it in the nose to how much I should extend it in the tail? Thanks and happy landings

1 ounce at the tail needs 3 oz at the nose to balance.
Roughly.
Keeping the c.g. the same, it makes no difference how long either gets. (within reason)

If you lengthen the rear of the fuz., it will pay if you build a new tailplane and fin, but lighter and with a lighter covering (and slightly smaller) - for the reasons already given. Keep all construction for the 'add-on' at the point nearest the cg. ie don't just add an extra bit at the back - same reason. The nose may be lengthened a little but do it for looks rather than any aerodynamic reason. If you do add to the nose, why not build a completely new fuz. and save on the strengthening and the weight it will mean?
Some of this is obvious, but included in case you need it.
Good luck - and post a pic!

Instead of extending the fuselage consider shortening the wings to achieve the proportions you're looking for. The CG won't be affected and there are no construction problems. I've done that to several planes to get sportier flying characteristics with no regrets. Tracking will improve also. Ed
