Since we are coming up on the first Saturday of the month, I am wondering if anyone was planning on going to the GCRCC field. I personally don't care either way as I've been ROG'ing from our field, but wouldn't want to miss out on any aerotow spectating.

Hi Don,

I flew there last Sunday, it was great, I love the runway. My Waco made another two good flights, the gassers were impressed by it's performance. It was kind a fun flying along with a large gasoline powered Pitts Special, the Waco is really fast.

I doubt if I can make it out this weekend, we have wedding and baby shower to attend / organize.

Later,

Marcel.

Yes, Paul, Jim and me are set to go tomorrow.
Paul said he would be there between 8 and 9 AM, I'll try to get out early as well.
Forecast loks good for tomorrow, not as warm as yesterday and today, but sunny.

Well, the forecast was a joke, as it was solid overcast and 90 degree crosswind on the runway. But still we had fun, and we must have done close to 30 tows? We burned most of a gallon of fuel in the tow plane.

We started off with Paul and Michael's matched K8s, both built from the Flair kit (http://www.ss16.dial.pipex.com/model_frames.shtml, and click the "ASK8" link). Later we also towed Paul and Michael's ASK and ASH ships. Beautiful.

Sadly, Jim brought the festivities to a close. :( I was coming in for yet another landing when the plane jerked to a halt and pitched up. That's right, I snagged the towline in the small trees off the east end of the runway. I instantly knew what had happened, and as I fell to earth, I got it turned back toward the trees to give some slack and tried to level out, but I was too low. Paul's Telemaster has certainly looked better. :(

Well, we'll get it repaired (all together now, "Be sure to get every piece."), and next time I'll give those trees a wide berth.
