Here's a bunch of old woodies from the early 80's. How many can you name? At one of our NJSS contests. The youngest in the pic (one of my sons) is now 29. Think I must getting old but still flying pretty well thank goodness. :D :D :D
BTW both my sons fly RC today. What stories they're going to tell their kids about me.

WAY cool pic. Thanks for posting it. Woodies RULE! for some of us, and you know why.

Thanks for posting a reminder of the days when competitive sailplanes didn't all come from a "cookie cutter". I see an Aqilla but that's the extent of identifying any.

I believe I see some 2m Spirits, maybe a Dodgson design or two, Sagitta's and maybe a couple of Airtronics Thermal Eagles?
I would really like to know what the V tail on the left is.

All I know is there's at least two (ok, maybe 4-5) in there that I'm glad I can't name. If I knew what they were I would have to start looking for even more kits to build. Cool picture. Now nobody name anything, my Visa card can't take it. :D

Are you sure this is early 80's? Doesn't jive with a couple of planes I see in the picture. The plane on the far left looks like a LJMP Icarus. There are two (3rd and 4th from the right, one being held up, other on its nose) that look like Alcyone's. Plus a few Spirits. An Aquila, Windsong, but no Sagittas.

To my recollection, the Spirit was introduced in late 1990, and the Alcyone about the same time.

I'd say early 90's for this pic, not 80's.

Sorry Steve. ;)

Your are right about the Sagitta's.

You're right. Late 80's early 90's could be for sure. Alcyones, Spirits, Sagittas, Falcon 650, Icarus, Lovesong.................. Way cool. Wasn't exactly sure of the era which was why I thought early 80's. Thanks jtlsf5 for the dating. :D :D :D BTW No Aquilas, but a couple of Sagittas (one is far right) one is center high.

Ok, I can't stand it. Guy third from right, blue cap & jacket, yellow & black plane. Fourth guy from left, blue shirt & jacket, white hat, yellow & black plane standing on wing. What are they?

Steve,
Those are the Alcyone's, I believe.

Hi Steve: Third from right is a Sagitta 900. Fourth from left is a Lovesong. ( at least that's what I remember  ) Possibly a Windsong. He would kick our a**es at many of our contests.
JT: The Alcyones are second from the left (blue / white know that for sure 'cause that's me holding it!) and Fifth from the right (yellow / red) :D :D :D

The guy fourth from the left looks like he is holding a Dodgson Design to me, maybe a Saber or one of the Songs????

Won't dispute you, but I never saw an Alcyone with a fuse like that (blue/white 2nd from left); a 2M maybe? The two Alcyone's that are pretty certain are 3rd from right (yellow wing, blue LE being held aloft) and the 4th from right (yellow wing, red tiplets, nose down). The very far right looks like the only Sagitta in the bunch, a Sagitta 600. The other question mark is the 5th from left (held aloft), which I agree with Jim Deck is an Aquila 100".

Joe, number 4 from the left is definately a Windsong/Lovesong. Can't mistake that outline.

JT: My Alcyone had the later design fiberglass fuse. That is why it may look a bit different to you. Also for you and Jim Deck #5 from left is a Quasor. I checked with owner for verification. :D :D :D
