would it be possible to put droppable, fuelable drop tanks on an rc plane?

Anything is possible, it usually just costs more.

I take it you mean extra fuel tanks, (fuelable), for a glow/gas motor for duration flying.

It would probably need the fuel 'pumped' from the tank(s), gravity feed is out.

It would need seal-able valves once the tank separates from the line.

It would probably need some sort of fuel management system, to control the sequences.

The tanks would need to be 'ejected away' to ensure they don't take off the tail.

As for the problems...........

How to tell how much fuel is left, and in which tank, otherwise there could be a lateral balance problem.

Weight. (Three fuel tanks ?, fuselage and two wing tanks ?).

The flight duration cannot exceed the Rx's battery capacity/duration. (Bigger battery ?).

Weight.

Finding the tanks :D , and damage limitation to the tanks on impact.

Yep, easy ;)

But I have to ask........why ?
