View Full Version : Can't open OS 32 SX-H head

I'm trying to open the head screws of an OS 32 SX-H with no success.

This is the second time I've opened the head and the first time wasn't too
successful either
(I eventually cut the head together with the screws).

This is very frustrating...any suggestions?

It almost seems like OS wants you to replace the engine by using those damn
tiny allan screws,
instead of some other more robust screws (maybe square or triangular
ones..??).

Thx,
Ben

I've resorted to using an oversized easy-out on allen heads before. Works
well for removing the bolt, but scraps it completely.

What's an "easy-out"?

I'm gonna need a description or picture in order to find it down here.

Thx,
Ben

Basically, they are bits for a drill that are threaded with a very low
pitch, and in the wrong direction. Their purpose is to remove bolts that
won't come out or have sheared off. You can drill a hole into the bolt,
then put an easy-out into the hole. When you put the drill in reverse, the
easy-out bites into the bolt and backs in out. Since hex head bolts already
have a nice hole on top, no drilling is necessary. But, like I said, the
bolt is garbage once done.
You can get a set in just about any hardware store.

Probably this website might give you an idea:
http://www.rennsteig.com/Katalog/04/03/p.html

I hope, that the "screw extractor" meets the "easy out",
at least in function..

Greetings,
Thilo
