Hello all....
I have a B4 running a Revenge of the Monster Pro motor. (27 turn).
I'm using a 23-tooth Team Losi pinion.
Is this acceptable? (I'm new to this....)
Thanks.

Can you hold your fingers on the motor at the end of a run? If so,
then it is acceptable....

23 would be a little high for the B3...not sure about the B4. Run it, and if
the motor is too hot to touch it's too big. I -think- a 19 or 21 would be
about right...but thats here in hot Florida in the summer. 23 might be fine
up north.

Check the manual for recommended pinions. The transmission ratio on
the new Stealth transmission is 2.6:1, which is higher than the old
B3. Depending on which spur gear is included with the kit, it should
be able to handle higher pinion sizes.

Well, according to the book, it seems to indicate that if i have
Torque based, a 24tooth is fine and if it's a RPM based, use a 22
tooth. I *think* it's a RPM based motor, so I would imagine increasing
the pinion by one would be acceptable.
It's also an 81 tooth spur gear, btw.
In all honesty, the motor is a little warm to the touc but not red
hot.
Further opinions?
I'm using a Super Rooster Speed Controller as well, if that matters.
Thanks to all for the advice, time and help.

Well, I just dropped down to a 20 tooth pinion. The motor runs cooler
now and the car still seems to have some top end punch...
Thanks to all for the help.

Let's see...
(81/20) * 2.6 = 10.53
That's about right for a speed-oriented stock motor.
