I am making my first battery pack. Should the individual cells be charged before making the pack?

It is safer to assemble the pack and insulate all the exposed cell terminals before charging. If you should accidently short a charged cell while assembling the pack you could cause yourself and the cell harm.

You may want to check the voltage of each cell before you build your pack. They should all have nearly the same voltage. If one is very low it might be a bad cell and may cause your entire pack to have poor performance.
But no, don't charge them first :)

Thanks,
That's pretty much what I thought, but I read somewhere about someone charging their individual cells before assembly, and got me all confused (not a difficult task).
