Same gps, same current sensor, same OSD layout and config setup. So what makes your OSD "new". Looks just like all the other OSD's to me, not too original...
We are going need more info from you. :)

I took a chance and bought this OSD from Foxtech (via Infinity).
I had some set-up issues which I PM-ed Fuxing a.k.a. glassfox:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=193081
I instantly got replies and sorted what was needed.
The OSD, Return to home and Waypoints works great now.
No regrets getting the unit.
However, note that version 3.0 OSD (mine) is outdated. The Version 4.0 OSD looks tons better.
Check it out here:

10 bucks says he made up the cockometer & toilet ETA. Dont get me wrong, Love the guy, but he will never, and i repeat, NEVER get an OSD. Sabatoge an OSD is his middle name.

Actually its a bit less than that.
Anyone can point me to an OSD with GPS, 8 waypoints and return to home, real time telemetry, that cost $288 (or less)?
I need a second unit.
Unlike wobby, I love OSDs!! :D:D:D

borneobear, the cyclops osd is going to upgrade to V 5.0 in March, the motherboard is the same ,so you can go on purchase V4.0, and 5.0 will include single axis stabilizer , barometer and so on as plug-in accessories as well as antenna tracking possibly, and of course the upgrade cable will be published at the same time with V 5.0.

V 5.0!! Goodness Gfox! You guys move fast. March isn't that long way off, so I think I'll wait for V5.
With the single axis stabilizer + barometer, we will have no need of the IR sensors and co-pilots? ;)
glassfox
Jan 31, 2010, 09:44 PM
the V 5.0 is supporting co-pilot sensors , so if you have it , you don't need the single axis stabilizer, plus, V 5.0 will automatically stabilize the plane with only co-pilot's ir sensor.

Is this with the old FMA sensor or the new FMA Copilot II sensor?
glassfox
Feb 01, 2010, 10:45 PM
it can be old FMA sensor, or new ir sensor, better one, plus, single axis stabilizer no more, it will be two axis stabilizer, the demo video will show how the plane turns , it looks like a real UAV now

I've been to that site... Is that a yen price thwey're quoting??? Y1400 = ~$20!
So - has anyone used this? Does it actually work? If I could get something for that price, I'd be happy. all I want is a voltage readout, and maybe mah and amps... And my chineese reading sucks.. so I'm battling to navigate. :)
Aw hang on - that's yuan... So, closer to $230. :(

you can type in google for any live conversion eg:
2000 Yuan in EUR
or
2000 Yuan in USD
(respect the syntax precisly)
its the same price as others who have the same features (=quite expensive)

Anyone can help me ? I buy cyclop osd with autopilot module from infinity-hobby.com

Or i miss somthing? I try to follow manual word by word.
When I turn on RTH switch my plan decrese altitude to fast.

Hello Faro. I have the same unit as you (V 3.0).
At first RTH it didn't work for me either.
But after increasing all the gain settings to nearly maximum (on all parameters), the autopilot works well.
Due to the max-ed out gains, fight was jerky (snake like) when flying the autopilot. So I reduced the gain until it got smooth.
Test before flight! While still on the ground, when you activate the autopilot to RTH, you must (!!!) see the tail rudder twitch (move to left or right). If it doesn't, that means the autopilot didn't initialize. Re-start the Cyclops (cycle power) until it does (sometimes it takes two or three times). It may take 30 seconds to 1 minute to initialize.
Also make sure the GPS detects the minimum number of satellites.
Good luck!

Yes the waypoint setting works for me too. V 3.0 has only 4 waypoints. V 4.0 has 8! V 3.0 Sucks! ;)
As long as your RTH works, the waypoint should also work.
So far I noticed the plane can turn either left or right during RTH. It doesn't matter. I think the Autopilot just calculates which way is nearest to turn.
When it reaches 'Home', it makes circles above the home point.
I am using my Cyclops together with the FMA Copliot II, which I had installed much earlier. I let the cyclops control my rudder. As I really like the stability FMA gives me for roll (aileron) and pitch (elevator), I continue using it for both these control surfaces.
I have never tried flying the clyclops with it controlling the elevator.

About Mr. glassfox I ever mail to him to ask about zoom camera and FY20A stabilizer. I'll ask him about osd again.

I have asked Fu Xing about this, and he said the hardware and firmware is totally different. Which means cannot upgrade from V. 3 to V. 5. You will need to buy whole new unit. :(:(

Based on a tip from Fu Xing - who said the autopilot works very well with inertial sensors - I installed a heading hold gyro between the Cyclops autopilot and tail servo.
Man is he right!! The return-to-home looks soooooooooo smooth now! And no more delays on RTH. The moment I flip the switch, the plane turns accurately and heads straight back to me!!
Definitely one of those goose bumps moments! :D:D:D
I'm using:
Futaba GY401 gyro (cannibalized from my dust collecting 90 heli)
Hitec HS65 on rudder (non digital)
Plane is a 2.5 kg AP-glider
Love this stuff! :D

I'm doing a mod right now so that re-setting the Cyclops can be done via the radio. Will upload the pic and method soon.
As for a picture of my bird, I'll post that also.
But if you want to see how the cyclops is installed, you're out of luck because my entire electronic hardware (receivers, FMA Copilot II, and cyclops) is embedded inside the wing and covered with HK Covering Film.
This was to minimize drag and maximize flying time.
Will upload soonest. ;)

Apologies. Its going to take time. Both my 1010c charges just got smoked due to my stupidity.:mad:
Will post pics as soon as I settle my Lipo charging issues.
As for the Head Hold Gyro. I make a retraction. The Cyclops Autopilot unit works much much better in non-heading hold mode.
I've set my Fail Safe setting to have the Gyro go into non-HH and autopilot activated.

This my video from v. 3 about waypoint Mr. borneobear ever told me
must set all gain to max. value and decrease.....
Now don't go to waypoint or RTH normally

yes, it is possible , but it requires some weldering skills.
about the autopilot, for all versions before V5.0 and for all other osds, each plane's setting is different, if your plane is very stable ,you could increase all values to maximum, i think i told him to double the default value and it will be fine .

Okay, as promised, I'd like to share resetting the OSD using the radio instead of using the 'setting board'.
The setting board is a very simple on-off switch system, with the red wire being the common wire:
Red and blue (up)
Red and black (reset)
Red and white (down)
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/borneobear3/thumb-.jpg
To reset using the radio, I connect the red and black wire to a simple switch such as DE's Pico Switch:
http://www.dimensionengineering.com/PicoSwitch.htm
I'm using a free Channel 8 on my Rx connected to the Pico Switch, which will switch the Red-Black wire on and off via my spring loaded H-Switch (Futaba).
Very easy mod. Now when I need to re-zero all my parameters (before take off), I just use my H-Switch.
Pics will be loaded soonest possible.
Cheers

HEY, borneobear, that's a very smart idea to control the reset of OSD by a rc controlled relay switch ,i have similar things too, my cam switch, it's a relay switch too, and my 2 channel missile firing switch. my friends and i used those switches for air combat, very interesting ,i will post a video soon.
