I am just home from the first flight of my Speed 500 Kwik-E from a Gary Wright kit. It runs on an Endoplasma car mnotor from Tower Hobbies, six CP1700 cells, and a folding 6 x 6 prop. I am pleasantly surprised at how well it handles: rock stready, not fussy like Speed 400 racers. With six 3,000 mAh NiMH's, this would be a great sport plane that is not too expensive! Get brushless performance out of a brushed motor! They will have a class for these at the E-NATs, so now is the tiem to build one. Don Leitz, Harry Roe, and Ed Franz plan to buy kits. For 6 or more there is a club discount on kits, so if 3 more are interested, please let me know! Thanks. Paul Siegel <psiegel@fuse.net>

After watching Paul fly his Kwik-E today, I have to agree - it is a nice plane that would lend itself well to some low-pressure pylon racing. I for one have not been interested in Speed 400 pylon racing because the planes are hard to launch and keep track of on the tight course. The Kwik-E appears to be easy to launch, easy to see, moderately fast - maybe 65-70 mph, uses an inexpensive powertrain, and really glides well, so landings should be no problem. In addition, the Q-05 course is longer so you get a couple of seconds to catch your breath before turning again. I hope some more people get interested so we can do a little Saturday morning racing.

Paul,
I am interested if we can find another 2 (maybe even if we can't). The flying characteristics sound great!

Can you post the price of the kit with and without the group discount?

Thanks,

Ted
